Assignments and Information for the week of 3/31/08

This short week we will use our knowledge of Linear Relationships to solve other problems that are Linear Functions. Questions we will encounter will be: If I give you a head start and I walk faster who wins a race?

We are selling t-shirts. How many do we need to sell before we make a profit?

As we investigate we will encounter terms y-intercept, and coefficient to go along with the variables (independent and dependent) we already know.

Please remember to submit all assignments timely to ensure the highest level of credit.

Assignments and Information for the week of 3/24/08

We finish with rates, more specifically constant rates this week. Looking at graphs and tables we will be able to determine what is happening to the dependent variable as the independent variable is changed. We will begin to refer to this as the Linear Relationship. The short week closes with a quiz.

Please remember to submit all assignments timely to ensure the highest level of credit.

3/24/08 Begin Investigation 1.4 - Using the Money (MSA Page 10-11)

3/25/08 Finish Investigation 1.4 Using the Money (MSA Page 10-11)
Homework: Green Sheet #10 & 14 (MSA Pg. 15 and 17 respectively)

3/26/08 Investigation 1 Reflection and Review

3/27/08 Investigation 1 Quiz
Remember you can use your class notes, homework assignments, and classroom decorations to aid you in your assessment. Good Luck.

3/28/08 1/2 day PM Schedule
No Classes Today

Keep up the solid effort, Spring Break is not far away.

Assignments and Information for the week of 3/17/08

Welcome to the 5th marking period!!!

This is a critical piece of the semester as we will revisit the important concept of Linearity. Linear relationships and functions are the foundation of Algebra, which is where you begin your high school math courses. Over the next three to four weeks our goal is to have every student be able to construct graphs, tables and equations for Linear relationships. Further every student will able to use one of these models to construct the others.

We begin with rates, more specifically constant rates. As we did the end of last marking period we will look at the given data and be able to determine other non-given data.

Please remember to submit all assignments timely to ensure the highest level of credit.

3/17/08 Investigation 1.2 - Walking Rates and Linear Relationships (MSA Page 6-7)
Homework: Green Sheet #4 (MSA Pg. 13)

3/18/08 Begin Investigation 1.3 - Raising Money (MSA Page8-9)

3/19/08 Finish Investigation 1.3 - Raising Money (MSA Page8-9)
Homework: Green Sheet #7-8 (MSA Pg. 14-15)

3/20/08 1/2 day AM Schedule
Begin Investigation 1.4 - Using the Money (MSA Page 10-11)

3/21/08 Homework - Catch Up Day.
I will be out today so this will be a chance for you to look over what we did this week, talk it over with others and get the homework turned in. This will build a good foundation for the rest of the marking period.

Let's have a great start to the new marking period.

Assignments and Information for the week of 3/10/08

This shortened week we will move on with our discussion and review of Algebraic Equations.
We start the week with the Ed Performance Testing. This is a great oppourtunity to show what you know. It also helps to determine your class options for next year, so take it seriously.

Then we will spend some time solving one-step Algebraic Equations. This will be a quick review of some work we did late last semester. It is always good to take advantage of opportunities to go back and review key foundational concepts. The week will be closed of with a small quiz on the past two weeks work.

Please remember to submit all assignments timely to ensure the highest level of credit.

3/10/08 Ed Performance Testing (2nd Hour Room 717, 3rd Hour Room 924)

3/11/08 Ed Performance Testing (2nd Hour Room 717, 3rd Hour Room 924)

3/12/08 Solving One-Step Algebraic Equations (MB Skill 8)
Homework: Green Sheet TBD

3/13/08 Algebraic Equation Quiz

3/14/08 No Classes today - 1/2 day PM schedule

Have a great last week of the marking period.
