Assignment and Information for the Week of 12/17/07

This week we continue Frogs, Fleas and Painted Cubes, which is a look at Quadratic Functions. Last week we looked and graphs and tables and found some of the characteristics of Quadratics. Now we will look at creating the equations. Again we will use our knowledge of Area and Perimeter to help us out. Remember to keep your binder organized. Think of it as your Math Brain, which if cluttered will not function well. Please submit all assignments timely to ensure the highest level of credit.

Assignment and Information for the Week of 11/12/07

This week we continue the unit on exponential functions in Growing, Growing, Growing. Now that we have an understanding of what happens in an exponential function we can look further into the causes and effects with Growth Factors and Growth Rates. We will use several different exercises to discuss these new topics. This week we will look at situations that have fractional growth. To aid us in this investigation we will review the concepts of decimals, fractions, and percentages. an existing condition and see how that effects our graph. This will also expose us to the complete generic equation for an exponential function. We will compare this to the linear model for similarities and differences.

11/12/07 Finish Investigation 2.3 and Review for tomorrow's QUIZ.

Assignment and Information for the Week of 10/15/07

This week we will start preparing for a unit on exponential functions called Growing, Growing, Growing. We will look back at the discussion of variables from last years classwork which hopefully will move some obstacles out of our way. The main focus of this week is the MEAP testing that began 10/9. It is important that all students are as prepared to be successful as possible. In support of that goal no homework will be assigned during the testing. It is my hope that each student will use that time to rest and relax their brain so that they are ready when the exams are given.

10/15/07 Begin review of solving for Variables

10/16/07 Pick up Variable review work

10/17/07 More Variables (3rd Hour only)

10/18/07 No Class -Half Day - MEAP Testing all morning

Assignment and Information for the Week of 10/8/07

This week we will extend our investigation of the Pythagorean Theorem as it relates to special triangles and how we can use it to find perimeters of figures. The main focus of the next two weeks however is the MEAP testing that begins 10/9. It is important that all students are as prepared to be successful as possible. In support of that goal no homework will be assigned during the testing. It is my hope that each student will use that time to rest and relax their brain so that they are ready when the exams are given.
